Introduction:

All terrain Pollination Ltd have developed a wet pollen application system for use in the New Zealand Kiwifruit industry. This system was trialed for the first time in November 2004

This system requires that a low-pressure machine built with stainless steel or food grade plastic components had to be developed. Kiwifruit pollen requires special handling to stay alive and viable until application to female kiwifruit flowers.

Pollination:

The application system uses the Pollenaid mixing system developed by MAF.

Savings achieved in 2004 season were approximately 50% or more over hand operated wet pollen application systems.
